a. Conduct surveys and mapping of mineral resources and groundwater to identify areas with the highest potential for sustainable development, thereby maximizing benefits for the population and increasing Government revenue.
b. Administer the State's mineral resources by regulating them under the Mizoram Minor Minerals (Concession and Prevention of Illegal Mining) Rules, 2023. The District Mineral Foundation Rules of Mizoram, 2023 (as amended) is also enforced to implement the PMKKKY Scheme for rehabilitation of mine affected areas and people while providing technical support to private entrepreneurs.
c. Identify geologically stable and safe areas for the establishment of developmental activities, and enhance the existing system through revaluation, systematic studies, and necessary recommendations.
d. To promote systematic mineral exploration, scientific mining, digital monitoring and sustainable utilization of mineral resources in accordance with the Mizoram State Minor Mineral Policy, 2025.
e. To facilitate implementation of the Mizoram State Mineral Exploration Trust Rules 2025 for strengthening mineral exploration and geoscientific investigations within the State.
